The furnishing, the quality of the offer, the elegance of the ‘choreography’ which welcomes the customer, let us think of a pâtisserie worthy of the streets of the city centre, catapulted by a spell among the big buildings of the outskirts. Blessed be that spell then, because ‘the other’ city needs handicraft workshops like this one.
Nunzio di Gola in Vivimilano, Corriere della Sera
Enrico Castelnuovo at the age of 14, in 1927, is already a learning pastry maker in Lecco. On November 4th 1945 he opens an artisan cake shop with his wife and colleague Maria Locatelli, in Via Mercato in Oggiono (Como).
After ten years and two children they decide to come back to Milan, where they open a pastry laboratory with retail sale in the Lorenteggio district, in Via dei Tulipani 18, present location.
In 1977 their son, Francesco, decides to carry on the father’s enterprise going into business with his wife Augusta and his friend Serafino, later joined by the son Maurizio. Since 2002 also Niccolò, Francesco’s son, has taken part to the family activity, dealing mainly with the communication and management aspects.
In addition to all the classic pastry, we re-evaluate the old simple recipes of the family tradition, as the “Torta Enrico”, to recall the work done by the grandfather and the “Fior di Pesco” cake, in memory of the famous singer Lucio Battisti – loyal customer of the shop - and of his famous song.
